Cell Structure
Slide 4 of 16
The typical cell is approximately 5-50 micrometers in diameter and contains numerous components. The plasma membrane is the "skin" of the cell keeping all of the good things in and bad things out. The nucleus or the brain of the cell is where the genetic material is retained. The endoplasmic reticulum transports material through the cytoplasm to the cell membrane and is where the ribosomes are located. Mitrochondia are resposible for storing and supplying the energy needed for cellular activities. The cell's lysosome is the recycling center for worn out structures. *
